Researcher, RAUORA TRIAL
Kia Ora, my name is Tina Lees and I'm one of the Research Assistants working on the Rauora Trial. My background is in nursing, midwifery and stop smoking support which is and has been my passion for many years.
A lot of people who smoke would love to quit, but just find it too hard using nicotine replacement therapy, and are afraid to try again. What's awesome with the Rauora Trial is that we are comparing the current gold standard medicine (Champix) for quitting in New Zealand, with a new product which has the potential to be as good as or better than our current gold standard (Tabex).
The support our people are receiving on the trial also seems to be making a difference, even for those who have tried and not succeeded with Champix in the past.
Mary-Kaye and myself are loving providing this support alongside our colleagues at Tipu Ora and would love to hear from anyone who is even vaguely considering stopping smoking. You never know, this time might be the time you succeed. What a great role model you would be for your whanau, tamariki and mokos.
Give us a ring, what have you got to lose? And what have you got to gain?
